After years of listening to my friend telling me how amazing The Performance and Fitness Academy was I finally bit the bullet and walked through the doors in July 2016. I was used to working out and did 3-4 sessions a week a mix of spin, body pump plus regular gym programmes but nothing could have prepared me for the Academy.
I was hooked after day 1.
The classes that Philly and the guys programme are great I love the variety and the fact that no class is ever the same. I could never go back into a regular gym again.
Soon after joining TPFA, Philly started his nutrition group and I signed up even though I was not over weight I felt stuck in a rut. I was working out 3-5 times a week but not seeing any changes in my body. However, I must be honest I did not fully embrace the process or the group and found myself worrying about posting in case others thought “oh no I don’t have to read one of her posts, again do I?”.
That was my loss as no one was thinking that way, in August 2017 soon after moving into our new house I slipped on the stairs (no carpet) and broke 3 vertebrae in my lower back, with no training for 3 months and poor food choices I put up about 4-5kg and was feeling down. In January I decided there was only one thing to do, join the group again and I can honestly say this was the best decision I have made in a long time.
3 weeks’ ago, I did a wardrobe clear out and tried on a dress I bought for my sisters’ wedding in 2011. It was a beautiful dress and I felt good in it on the day but I also remember thinking go easy on the dinner as there is not much wiggle room. Trying it on now it feels like a perfect fit.
I will be 40 in 2 weeks and can honestly say I am fitter now than I have ever been in my life, don’t get me wrong I am not the finished article but with Philly’s nutrition group and great classes at the TPFA I have a feeling my 40’s could be the best years of my life!
I have learned from Philly you need to be accountable, you need to be active every day (I thought I was!). Consistency is key, patience is a must and Philly is always right and being in a group of people with the same aim and goals who are willing to support you is second to none.
He has created a great platform where he posts content that is both relevant and useful and breaks it down in a way that everyone can understand which is great as science was never my strong point. He has an incredible client base of people willing to share their ideas and thoughts and encourage each other to be their best.
Being part of Philly’s nutrition group has changed my life for the better and I would encourage anyone looking to make positive changes to their nutrition and fitness to get on board.
